OUTREACH WORK

There are several projects that the museum does as part of its outreach work. The projects include charity work to orphanages, taking education programmes to previously marginalized communities who can not come to the museum, assisting stakeholders run programmes in the community such as assistance to old aged homes in Lwandle and fundraising for disasters to assist the community at large. The museum is also involved in activism and tackling issues that are facing the community of Lwandle.

The museum runs an annual  outreach programme where it requests funds and donations from friends and companies to support an annual Christmas party for orphanages in Lwandle and surrounding areas, currently we work with 3 orphanages: Lydia’s safehouse, Ikhaya lethemba and Mamfene Home, they look after 120 kids combined.

The number grows yearly as they also take kids who are dumped under bridges by their parents, kids who lost parents due to HIV AIDS and so forth. This runs every second week of December, we cook for them, organise presents, games, toys and food to last them for the duration of December. Donations are hand delivered to the museum, we accept donations from July up until December yearly.
